This year has seen a continuation of positive response for our first feature film, Shining Night, winning its fourth Best Documentary award at the Asheville Cinema Festival. Shining Night introduces the story and music of National Medal of Arts recipient Morten Lauridsen, of whom musicologist Nick Strimple wrote 'the only American composer who can be called a mystic'. The film's narrative includes the composer's creating his magnum opus, "Lux Aeterna," to help cope with the death of his mother.
